We offer a range of courses to suit different needs in learning about underwater photography - a challenging but rewarding pasttime. These courses include:
PADI Digital Underwater Photographer
This is a great introductory course for divers interested in the
new revolution of digital underwater photography, and for underwater
photographers wanting to further develop their skills. The course
covers photographic principles, digital cameras, general digital
photography, digital underwater photography, basic underwater shooting,
digital file formats, choosing image resolution, making your underwater
photos lighter or darker, getting sharp photos, composition for best
impact, and use of lighting systems.
Two dives are conducted, offering the participant the chance to put into immediate practice the learnings from the course.
This course is tailored to the participants, based on their prior photographic experience, equipment and goals.
Digital Darkroom Techniques
For the photographer who wants to get more from their digital image - whether captured on film or digitally. The workshop provides an introduction to the digital darkroom, including the hardware and software to manipulate an image with confidence and ease.
Digital Photography Workshops
have designed a series of workshops on Digital Photography which focus on developing practical skills in various underwater photography situations. These workshops are aimed at divers who have at least some experience in digital photography underwater. They are ideal for those who have completed an Underwater Photographer course (see above) and Digital Darkroom Techniques course (also see above).
At this time courses are available for the following topics:
- Macro / Close Up Photography
- Wide Angle Photography
- Photographing Marine Life
- Wreck Photography
Each course will commence with a discussion of the theory of a particular type of photography, focusing on applying previous knowledge in the specific area. We will then do a dive, and come back and review the results, critiquing as a group what worked well and what improvement opportunities there might be. Finally we will look at digital darkroom techniques that might be applied to a selection of images to get the most out of the image.
